What to put in a homework planner
A useful homework planner captures the course, task name, due date, type, and estimated effort. This makes it easier to spot two deadlines landing in the same week. Keep the original course page nearby so you can check the official instructions.
- Add course deadlines by hand, or paste syllabus lines that contain clear dates.
- Review every title and date before adding it to the semester plan.
- Scan the upcoming week and note which assignments need the most time.
- Export an ICS calendar file, then import it into your preferred calendar.
- Mark work complete as the semester moves along.
Example: spot a crowded assignment week
Imagine three deadlines across different courses:
- Biology — lab report — Thursday — Project — 2 hours
- History — reading response — Friday — Assignment — 1 hour
- Algebra — exam — Monday — Exam — 4+ hours
Add each item with its course, type, due date, and a rough effort estimate. The Upcoming list makes the dates and larger tasks easier to scan together. Effort is a planning cue, not a time estimate; Term Map tracks deadlines but does not schedule study sessions. If a course has separate graded milestones, use the dates in the current syllabus or course platform.
Build the plan from syllabus dates
Term Map runs in your browser. Paste selected syllabus lines or enter dates manually; no account or file upload is needed. It does not read PDFs or photos, connect to a learning platform, or sync a calendar automatically. Review the preview before saving so you can correct ambiguous dates.
Keep your assignments portable
Your task list stays in this browser. Export a calendar file to use dates elsewhere, or download a backup before changing browsers or devices. Term Map focuses on a clear semester deadline list; it is not a learning-management system or a shared class calendar.
To turn syllabus deadline lines into calendar events step by step, see the syllabus calendar guide.
